After having escaped the Maze, the Gladers now face a new set of challenges on the open roads of a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles.

My Review:

*This review slightly spoils some aspects of the second book*

I saw The Maze Runner last year and thought it was a pretty solid adaptation of the novel, give or take a few inconsistencies, it was an enjoyable blockbuster.

Speaking for myself, I look for adaptations not to be an absolute cookie cutter adaptation of the original work but for it to capture the same essence and themes of the original work.

What's Good About It:

The Cinematography: This movie is gorgeous. Rolling hills covered in sand, apocalyptic lightning storms, and destroyed cities never looked so good. The director had interesting shots throughout the film, one that comes to mind is during a character's death where instead of close ups of their reactions, it was a wide shot of the entire cast in frame, which was cool.

Fast paced: The film is everything you want in an action film, it's face paced, and doesn't have any slow points during the two hours of the film.

Overall, this is an great adaptation of the series and continues seamlessly with the first film, The Maze Runner
