Best Places to Check Out in Little Havana

Little Havana is one of the most popular spots in South Florida and here are some of my top picks you have to check out when you pass by this historical spot!

One of my favorite things to do is be a tourist in my own hometown! I was born and raised in Miami and I've pretty much seen it all and done it all here in the city. But, one of the cool things is that Miami is always changing, so there's so many new things to explore and get to know.

I've known and been to Little Havana many times and when I decided to go try a new place, I was amazed at how much the heart of Little Havana has changed! There's new restaurants, new construction, and even street art in the style of Wynwood, but with its own unique Cuban spin.

I started off by walking down 8th street to an Ernest Hemingway themed Cuban restaurant named Sala'o, which was "born from Ernest Hemingway’s love affair with Cuba" and served some of the yummiest seafood I've had in the city.

I was adventurous and ordered the octopus, which was delicious and incredibly fresh. Also not pictured here were the oysters we shared as appetizers and mojitos, which were equally as divine.

Next up we wandered into a nearby coffee shop named La Colada Gourmet which specializes in roasting their own coffee and the decor and art was eye-catching and unique.

It was one of the best cups of coffee I've had, which is saying a lot when there's so much great coffee in Miami.

No matter where your hometown is, I would encourage you to pick a place in your city and act like a tourist for a few hours! It really broadens your horizons because you tend to gloss over what you already know and discover new places that you might have otherwise missed.
