My Review:

I didn't know what to expect at the end of the first act of this series, known as "The Faust Act". Faust, of course, is the name of the legendary fictional German character who sold his soul to the devil.

The artwork is exceptional and the climax of this issue is shocking and graphic, but at the same time is handled so beautifully by the artist, Jamie McKelvie.

This series uses the medium of comics amazingly well, and it's obvious that Gillen and McKelvie know each other as artists very well and they execute Wicked + Divine with flawless precision.

The final two pages are minimal and cinematic and turns one simple gesture into an ominous and exciting cliffhanger for what's to come.
