Hi Brina, Welcome! First question, when did you realize that writing was something you wanted to pursue or did you always know that you were going to be a writer?
I started writing in fourth grade. I was good at it, but lost the time available to write as much as I wanted to.  I grew up and when I graduated college, I became an elementary school teacher.  In 2011, I started taking my writing career seriously and published Reveal.

What drew you to write in the YA genre?
I LOVE reading YA. I can’t tell you how many books I’ve read, but it’s what made me want to write YA.

The first book in your Cryptid Tales series, Reveal, is about Shay, a girl who can communicate with ghosts. What was the inspiration for writing the series?
Well, it all started from A Bones episode on Chupacabras and Cryptozoology. I just got hooked- I wanted to know more. And when there wasn’t any more to learn, I created.

What's an average day for you like?
Well, I am an elementary school teacher and a cheerleading coach so during the school year, it is mainly work and sneaking in writing time when I can.

Who are some of your favorite authors?

JK Rowling, I am such a Harry Potter nerd.

What is one thing that you want readers to come away from after reading your stories?

That women are not weak.  I love strong female leads that might seem like a mess in the beginning of the story, but then grown into their own and become the strong heroines that I look up to.

Last book you read?
The last book I read was Red & Wolfe Part 1 by Ella James.  It is a much steamier version of Little Red Riding Hood.

Are you currently reading anything at the moment?
I’m finishing up the school year and about to go into writing lockdown mode so sadly, I haven’t had much time to read anything new.

For someone who wants to start reading your books but doesn't know where to start, which book would you recommend that they read first?

Well, it depends on what you like reading!  The Cryptid Tales is what I like to call Sci-Fi Romance Lite.  There is science fiction, action and a great romance.  If you are looking for some more New Adult type books I would suggest checking out the NA Paranormal book, Discovery, or my NA Contemporary Romance Stealing Promises.
