Mara Dyer wants to believe there's more to the lies she’s been told.
There is.

She doesn’t stop to think about where her quest for the truth might lead.
She should.

She never had to imagine how far she would go for vengeance.
She will now.

Loyalties are betrayed, guilt and innocence tangle, and fate and chance collide in this shocking conclusion to Mara Dyer’s story.

Retribution has arrived.

My Review:

The Retribution of Mara Dyer is the final book in the Mara Dyer trilogy, not mentioning the spinoff that will come out later next year

The Mara Dyer trilogy is unlike any other trilogy I've read. It's creepy, unnerving, strange, funny and plain out weird. In a good way. Most of my problems with this series is reflected in this last book since everything set up in the previous two novels has been building up to this point.

What's good about it:

The Romance: I liked the romance, especially the end. Noah and Mara are a fairly weird couple but I always enjoyed reading about them even if they make interesting decisions in their relationship.

Mara: Mara always had the help and emotional reliance of mostly Noah in the first two books and I loved that Mara was forced to be independent and accountable for herself.

Her independence and ability to trust herself more instead of replying on others as a crutch was one of the shining parts of this book.

Secondary characters: The supporting characters in this novel really made the story shine in my opinion, and the added humor and various personalities added a nice balance to Mara's outward and inner conflicts in the story.

What's bad about it:

The Romance: The romance in this book was both good and bad in the novel, which is why I put it in both camps. I didn't enjoy that the entire series built up to Mara and Noah's romance, and that it was the most important thing in the series

The PlotThe Retribution of Mara Dyer had a lot of potential to expand on more elements and themes than it actually did. It introduced these unnerving and interesting topics but didn't do anything substantial with it.

Final Thoughts:

I really enjoyed this series, despite it's shortcomings. It's incredibly entertaining and a very immersive read.

If you're into audiobooks, or looking for one to listen too, then I recommend listening to the audiobooks to this series, which is narrated by my childhood fav, Christy Carlson Romano.
