Here at Reads By Amanda, we love authors. How could you not? From our favorite series, books, moments, scenes and characters, there's a writer who created all those moments and decided it had to be written down and shared with the world.

When did you first know you wanted to become a writer?
In elementary school when I first read about fairies, fairy tales, and biographies of fascinating people. Then I wrote my first book at age 9 which was a middle grade book about squirrel knights.
You write from a lot of different genres, which one is your favorite to write?
To me, character is most important so as long as the characters are well-developed, they can be in any genre. That's the way I write... characters first and then the genres that fit them. I don't have a favorite, but I tend to have romance or a hint of it in many of my books.
Which is your favorite genre to read?
Anything with romance. I'm such a romantic at heart.
Who are some of your favorite authors?
Stephen King for his versatility, Suzanne Collins for making dystopian appealing to more people, and my fellow indie authors whose dedication to the craft has set the standard higher and brought respect to indie publishing.
What's your writing process like?
I write in spurts and I write all the time. I may take a day off once in a while, but writing is a passion of mine and a part of me, that I don't even think of it as work.
What is one thing that you want readers to come away from after reading your stories?
To feel something...
What are your favorite type of characters to write about?
A complex one who has flaws.
Last book you read?
Honestly? Lasting Summer.
Are you currently reading anything at the moment?
I usually read any book that I can read in a day or less because of time, and that's how I like to write, as well.
Currently reading? Free Fall, the book after Lasting Summer, is the one I'm going through at the moment :)
For someone who wants to start reading your books but doesn't know where to start, which book would you recommend that they read first?
Loving Summer for Contemporary Romance, PULSE or Bitter Frost for Fantasy, FADE for dystopian thriller, Devour Me (Master Chefs Series) for steamy romance, and Alchemists Academy for Middle Grade.
