Top 13 of 2013! (Beauty Edition!)
Amanda Leon Saturday, January 4
This was super hard to narrow down and I ended up making a mess trying to figure it all out but without further ado, my top 13 beauty products of 2013!
Stila In The Light Palette: This was an impulse buy and I was wary on whether I would like it or not but I've been using this palette on an almost daily basis for the past few months! It's the perfect size and has enough variety to do either a day or night look whether dramatic or subtle.
Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Concealer in Ivory: An amazing dupe for the YSL Touche Eclat concealer (L’Oreal owns both Maybelline and YSL cosmetics) It's the perfect under eye concealer that provides enough coverage without being too much and gives radiance so you look like you actually slept the night before.
Wet N Wild Blush in Pearlescent Pink: Wet n Wild has really stepped up their game and they keep coming out with quality products at amazingly affordable prices. Their blushes (which are only $2.99!!!) are beautifully pigmented and have great wear time. They never fade or lose their color once applied. This one is an almost fuchsia color and I put the tiniest bit on my cheekbones to define and add color.
Clinique Moisture Surge: I'm not a big tinted moisturizer/bb cream kind of girl since I don't mind applying/wearing foundation on a daily basis but on days when I have limited time to get ready, I find that this easily blends and provides enough coverage where concealer is not even necessary. An added bonus is that it lasts forever even on my oily skin in the humid climate so I can slap it on, spray setting spray and run out the door. It's a great option to have.
Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel: I fell hard and fast for this one. This cream bronzer is quite dark so on my pale skin I apply it under my foundation (weird right?) but by doing this, it creates great dimension. I know some people who use it normally on top of their preferred face base but I find that no matter your skin tone, there's a million ways to use this and is universally flattering.
Naked Basics Palette: This mini palette which is an affordable alternative to the other $50 naked palettes that Urban Decay offers, it contains six shades, all matte except for one, Venus. I use this daily, in particular Crave for my brows and Venus and Foxy for the brow bone.
Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigments Eyeshadow in Barely Brazen: This is a great drugstore product if you like loose eyeshadows. Barely Brazen is a gold color that is perfect for the inner corner of the eye or all over the lid for a shimmery daytime look.
Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector: Another product that I was skeptical about since I tend to associate matte with flat and lifeless but this primer is one of the best I've used. It gives your skin an airbrush quality and your makeup just stays on so well. efinitely recommend.
Pantene Expert AgeDefy Advanced Thickening Treatment: I'm low maintenance on my hair but to the people who have long hair know that your hair tends to shed more the longer it is and this product claims that it helps your scalp become stronger and more resilient against damage. Since using this product, I've noticed that my hair has shed a lot less in the shower and my scalp appears shinier and more healthy. It's a tad pricier than most drugstore hair products but I would still recommend checking it out since its well worth it.
Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie: One of my favorites! A fuchsia/berry color, it's perfect if you want to add color to your lips without all of the hassle.
Loreal in Fairest Nude: Nudes are like a pair of jeans. One size doesn't fit all and it takes multiple tries in order to find the right one for you. This is personally one of my favorite drugstore nudes and I find it flatters a good range of people. If you're looking for a new nude lipstick, you should try this out for yourself.
Mac Lipstick in Ruby Woo: A famous lipstick from Mac, this is the quintessential 40s red lip. It's matte and goes with absolutely everything.
YSL Shocking Mascara: Not pictured since my tube was absolutely worn to filth but my holy grail mascara. There's nothing quite like it. It's dramatic so if you usually don't like super dramatic mascara for everyday use, I would skip on it but it provides amazing length and volume. It does look like you're wearing falsies and it's expensive but it's so worth it for the results that you get.
