Amanda Leon Tuesday, December 3
As the year wraps up and we say goodbye to 2013, I didn't have a particular theme for the end of the year since it's the holidays and all so I just picked out the ones in my tbr (to be read) pile that caught my interest the most.
The Book of the Forsaken (The Game #1) by Yannis Karatsioris: This book was sent to me by the author for review a while ago and I've finally found time to read it. Three people are chasing down The Book of the Forsaken all over Europe and they will come together in unlikely ways.
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley: the dystopian epic, Brave New World is a novel that I've always wanted to read but never have. Cloning, systematic oppression and human engineering is just one of the fantastic little bits this novel contains (she said fearfully) and I'm really excited to get into it.
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak: This is a reread and one of my favorites. Set in Nazi Germany in 1939, it follows a young girl named Liesel who steals books while keeping her jewish friend hidden in her basement. I'm also going to be doing a combined book and movie review of the film that was just released in theaters this past month so don't forget to come back here and check that out.
The Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth: I have this huge problem with trilogies that by the time the last book comes out, I've forgotten all about them. I remember the basic plot lines but none of the details so it's a vague understanding while reading the book. So I just reread the whole thing so it's fresh in my mind and I get the full impact reading the finale.
